The first speaker for the event is Roberto Burioni, Professor of Microbiology and Virology at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan, who is well-known in Italy for his activism against “fake news” and conspiracy theories on vaccines. Professor Burioni will appear in a short video message to stress the importance of a rational and scientific debate on such delicate health and social issues.
The second speaker will be Silvia Mari, Professor of Social Psychology at the University of Milano-Bicocca. From her perspective, Professor Mari will shed light on the psychological and social dynamics involved in the spread of fake news. The title of her speech will be: “Scientific disinformation and conspiracy theories in the social media era”.
The third and last speaker will be Nicasio Mancini who teaches Microbiology and Virology, also at Vita-Salute San Raffaele. Prof. Mancini will analyse vaccination from a scientific and medical point view, trying to show “Why vaccination is not an opinion”.
