The IHEU is opening a tendering process for IHEU Member Organizations to apply to become a “Regional Humanist Hub“. Grants will be awarded for work in capacity-building and the promotion of humanism.

Our priority region for 2017 is Latin America. However, we will consider applications from IHEU Member Organizations in Asia, Africa and Latin America, where humanism is most under-represented.

In the initial program, launching in August 2017, up to £4,000 (approximately US $5,200) is available for new activities, and up to two grants of £1,000 (US $ 1,300) are available to support the organization of new humanist events.

Activites

Activities will be proposed by eligible IHEU Member Organizations. For example, activities might include developing a new online presence, the provision or procurement of necessary training, translation of humanist materials into local languages, or investment in outreach or campaigns on key humanist issues… But these are just ideas!

We want to encourage innovative thinking, and in particular to meet specific local/regional needs. We are accepting applications for any activity which meet some or all of our key criteria:

  • to support the growth and development of Humanism in your region;
  • to promote Humanism in your region;
  • to network and share information within your region.

Proposals should take into account or attempt to address specific regional needs, and producing content or operating in local language(s).

Events

Events, such as conferences or public meetings, likewise should fulfil the same criteria. Events should have as wide a public interest as possible and the plan should include publicity and live-streaming of the event for a wider audience.

To apply

Applications must be made on behalf of IHEU Member Organizations (not individuals).

The deadline for applications is Thursday 7 September 2017 and we will aim to make a decision on grants to be awarded by Friday 22 September 2017.

Please email giovanni@iheu.org in the first instance, detailing your ideas and projects with an initial estimate of costs.
